London is a great storyteller. This collection of short stories was a delightful read, each story being a nice 30-60 minute sitting. I especially liked "That Spot." What a hoot!Product details

Lost Face Jack London 9781542406116 Books Reviews
The story develops nicely and by the end it becomes a little predictable, but its a fun read nonetheless.
What can I say its a jack London, its is beautifully written and you fall straight in to the story.
Aside from the story Lost Face, the rest of the book of stories is very readable. Not one of my favorite London books though.
Lost Face is one of several intense short stories of survival and surprising ironic endings in them. The characters, time and place are unique especially since there was only one real period of the gold rush, with an incredible mix of races, ethnicities and human survival in harsh environments. These stories somewhat reminded me of ernest hemingway, his writing style and the ending of some of his short stories, not expected, neat, and heartwarming but more realistic in the sense of barbaric, pragmatic characters in the stories of that time. The ending in a couple made you go Whoa! thats crazy. Some stories should be five stars but not all so I gave it four stars.
If you like survival stories or mountain man reading then you will like Jack London
Jack London always writes unusual stories & this collection certainly proves that. I still have several more London books to read but I'll finish eventually.
It would be very hard to beat Jack London for portraying human nature in difficult physical situations.
These tales are a very good read.
