Creo Parametric 1.0 for Designers is a comprehensive textbook that introduces the users to Creo Parametric 1.0, a feature-based 3D parametric solid modeling software. The textbook covers all major environments of Creo Parametric 1.0 with a thorough explanation of all tools, options, and their applications to create real-world products. About 60 mechanical engineering industry examples are used as tutorials and an additional 40 as exercises to ensure that the users can relate their knowledge and understand the design techniques used in the industry.

I am the second reviewer for Dr Tickoo's manual on Creo Parametric's 1.0 which has just been upgraded to 2.0. I have been using this software for about 16 months. I am not an expert at it but I feel fairly comfortable getting around it and making solid models of complicated aerospace hardware for the United States Air Force. I am also a Chief Engineer in Aerospace and consequently I do not like wasting time with software that is cumbersome and obtuse. I want a powerful software that can cover many tasks well and Creo Parametrics 2.0 fills the bill. It is awsome and fun to use. Is it easy ? Sort of but it takes lots of work doing many projects to gain a good sense of mastery of Creo. To climb this tall mountain you start with doing simple components and work slowly and steadily your way into more complicated parts. Expect days when you don't think you will get it and things that you want to do seem impossible. This is part of the learning curve and it is called paying your dues. Anything worthwhile takes a lot of effort and if you desire to learn this powerful tool you will need a good work ethic.The best analogy to those of you reading this and who are wondering how do I master something like this ? It is similar to flying a plane. You will need a co-pilot teacher at first to show you the basics and get you started. Like flying anybody can learn to fly an airplance but there will be vast differences in learning rates. Everyone will have a different learning curve and if someone next you is a whiz at this software due to previous experience you may feel you don't have what it takes but that would be false. Just remember everyone has a different learning rate and this is a powerful tool but there is a lot to know and understand and therefore please be patient with yourself.
Prof Tickoo's book is great. He explains things well especially how datums work or the theoretically planes you start sketching from and from which you build your solid models. The chapters are well laid out and arranged in order to facilitate your learning. When you learn this software start with an experienced Creo Master to get you to a level where you can do simple models. Then get training. Creo has a week-long training course that is also excellent but which presents an overview of all the capabilities. It is expensive about $25 K per student but well worth it. Then you got to practice, practice and more practice doing ever more complicated models.
Like flying you will have to put in your hours. I have about 500 hours so far and I think I have a decent feel for the software and can do most of what I need but doing the more complicated tasks like assemblying an engine will take more study and practive and with Prof Tickoo's book I am on my way to getting there. His book is money well spent. Good luck on your Creo Parametrics learning curve. Remember to be patient and don't be dissappointed when you feel like you have gone backwards and forgotten some basic fundamentals. This is part of the learning curve. If it were easy you would have little kids doing it.

Better training from PTC, don't waste your hard earned dollars on this. TAKE IT OFF THE MARKET PLEASE!
